Adult Activities

One of the easiest ways to be involved in the life of our church family is to gather weekly with other adults for fellowship, Bible study, prayer, and connection. Each Wednesday night we offer a variety of activities and small groups for our adults.

Our time together each week begins at 6:00pm in the Fellowship Hall for a brief time of worship and prayer. This time is led by Rev. Brandon Owen, Maria Goodwin, and BJ Greer. A spotify playlist has been made of the songs that we will be singing during this time of worship. Feel free to click the link. This playlist will be updated throughout the semester.

After worship, adult small groups meet 6:30-7:30pm on Wednesday nights in the Main Building. The room for each group is listed below. If you have students and children, they can participate in the Wonderful Wednesday activities for children that are listed below.

Small Groups for Spring 2024

Women’s Adult Small Group (all ages): Led by Ann Phillips & Snookie Brown in room 300. This semester we will be doing the study Gideon by Priscilla Shirer and Why Easter Matters by Andy Stanley

Parenting Seminar: SAFE: Sexual Awareness & Family Empowerment

This seminar will challenge parents to think about the facts they must teach their children about such important issues. Even more importantly, we dive into the “why”—the narrative-- that provides the substance for these facts and how they fit inside your family’s unique story and belief-system. It requires some intentional thought and action, but it is necessary to help our children alongside this journey of being a holistically healthy human being.

We will discuss how we become the primary transmitters of information about sex and safety to our children. We will discuss the many facets of child safety including education about sexual development and sex education, teaching body awareness and empowerment to our children, and eliciting a strong supportive adult network to help us with this heavy responsibility of keeping our children safe.

The SAFE Seminar will be led by LeAnn Gardner (LISW-CP, MDiv), a licensed clinical worker and ordained minister in room 251.

Co-Ed Small Group (all ages): The Co-Ed Bible study will be led by Rev. Mary Renfer. This class will lead you on a journey through the Old and New Testament Wisdom literature: Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Job, later parts of the Psalms, and the parables and sayings of Jesus. This class will meet in room 252.

Man to Man Group (all ages): This group is led by Nick Spratlen and they meet in the Fellowship Hall Parlor. This group loves doing in-depth studies of theologians, reading their books outside of class, and coming prepared to discuss their assigned reading. This semester we will be studying Salvation Belongs to Our God by Christopher JH Wright.

Wonderful Wednesday
for Children

Wonderful Wednesdays are a time when our children get to explore their faith and learn how they can share God's love around the world, and how to worship God through many different art forms! Each Wednesday children ages 3 years-old* through 5th grade will participate in age-graded Children's Worship Arts classes and rotation classes. Some of the activities your child will experience are singing, drama, playing instruments, missions, Bible study, games, and lots more! For more information about Wonderful Wednesdays, click here.

*Childcare for infants through 2 year olds is provided in our nursery beginning at 5:45pm for parents attending a Bible study, seminar class, or Adult Choir practice.

Student Ministry
Volunteer Opportunity

Serving in the church and being a leader are important skills for our Students as they grow in their faith and continue to follow Jesus. For the Spring of 2024 we are seeking out our Students (6th Grade through college) to volunteer with the Children's Ministry on Wednesday nights.

To sign up to volunteer, please click the button above!

Students who sign up to volunteer will assist with our Children's Worship Arts groups and our Rotation Stations for preschoolers through 5th grade. Students who volunteer can receive volunteer hour credit for their school or organization.

If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact Rev. Lauren Mills at lmills@mariettafbc.org.
